What can I expect from my private Pilates session? You can expect a program built on deep stability and function that will help meet your goals. You’ll learn how to use the equipment and the best set ups for your body. Sessions progress from addressing imbalances and improving deep, often subtle stability, to adding challenge in coordination, strength and endurance.
-
What should I wear?Loose fitting clothing that is easy to move in and doesn’t have sharp details. Pilates is done in bare feet or socks.
-
How often should I do Pilates? That depends on your goals, however a standard recommendation is 2 - 3 times a week. Many clients choose to have one standing private session and one group class a week to give them that perfect balance of individual progress and group fitness.

I’m very active and practice other modalities like Yoga, do I still have to take private lessons to join group Pilates classes?"Pilates is very specific in set ups and familiarity with the equipment for the best results and safety is very important. If you have never done a Pilates class with equipment, a private session is necessary, possibly more before joining our group classes. We have three options to get started with group classes. 1. The Introductory Package of 8 private sessions to get you started is the best way to learn the material, know your equipment set ups and progress to our higher level group classes. 2. Introduction to Group Classes, which includes a private session and 4 group classes with other people who are just starting out. 3. The Beginner group series. A few times a year we run a 6 class series for people who have never done Pilates. Definitely the most bang for your buck. If you’re new to our studio, but not new to Pilates, reach out by phone/text or email and introduce yourself. We'll be able to recommend the best way to start at Centred Pilates

Who can do Pilates?Pilates is suitable for anyone. Knowing that Pilates is adaptable to the individual, we can create a program suited just for you. Maturity does help and our youngest clients are 16. There is no limit to age above 16.
-
I’m recovering from injury, is Pilates suitable for me to do?"If this is a recent injury, speak with your medical professional first to determine if this is the right time to start. Pilates is well known for assisting recovery and we'll follow guidelines from your medical professional and other members of your treatment team. With our extensive experience we can build a program that will support you through recovery and progress into regular movement and beyond.
